ProgBeat: Townsend Interview
Canadian rocker/producer, Devin Townsend, recently sat down with RightToRock.com for a nearly 25minute interview where he speaks at length about each piece in his upcoming four-album series, THE DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT. He also talks about his time with STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, and how he and his sound have changed since his tenure with them.
What’s most interesting is how often Townsend speaks about “clarification” in conjunction with his new set of records. It seems important to him that he clear up exactly who he is and was, and what his music means to him on a grander scale. And through THE DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT, it appears that he’ll be exploring all the different sides of himself, both past and present, sorting through them and looking to make a certain kind of peace. He talks, too, about his aspirations of someday making a symphony, as well as his thoughts on radio superstars NICKELBACK.
